The Story

Appam (also known as “palappam”) are tasty, lacy, and fluffy pancakes or hoppers from the Kerala cuisine that are made from ground, fermented rice and coconut batter. Thin and crispy around the edges with soft fluffy center appam taste delicious when paired with vegetable stew for a hearty vegetarian breakfast. They also just so happen to be gluten-free and vegan. Structurally, the edges are thin and crispy. The middle has a softer consistency.  Coconut is rich in essential oils and dietary fiber, and fermented rice flour ensures you get the right amount of energy to help you start your day fresh. In addition, it can be consumed with additional products according to the desired diet.

How does palappam made?

4 tbsp sugar, 1/2 tbsp salt, 4-41/4 cups (850ml) Lukewarm water

After the materials are prepared, Elite palappam is added to the mix and mixed.Mixing is continued until a smooth structure is obtained. After about 1 minute, it is put on hold.Fermentation time varies with room temperature. The product will be ready in an average of 1 hour.

! Note: 35 palappams can be made with a 500gr package.
